Never once shooting have I ever felt like my pack has came too close to my strings and I have never had it slip once. But overall my top favorite feature was the front pocket of the CUB, call it destiny or what but my Vortex Ranger 1000 fit's like a glove in that pocket and makes it extremely accessible at all times. The H.A.L.O Closure (elastic cord) is awesome and I can easily get my bino's in and out of the case one handed, even with gloves on. About 5 minutes later I was talking to Brian Call from Gritty Bowmen and I knew that in seconds THAT was the pack I had been searching for! As soon as I got back to Salt Lake I googled them, found their site, and ordered one for myself which ended up being an hour and a half conversation on the phone with the owner and designer of the packs Jaret Owens. The only downside I had with the OSS was that it shared the same Kuiu style where it was just a cover not an actual case and once you pull the bino's out, the pack drops down to your stomach and it's nearly impossibly to get it back in one handed.Īfter a lot of soul searching I was siting at an Archery shoot up in Tamarack and every body and their dogs had this bino system that I had never heard of or even saw before. It was just an elastic webbed pocket but it actually held it surprisingly well. After messing with the Badlands and th Sitka, I finally had a way to clip my rangefinder on the side of the pack. I could just seeing that happening out in the field and turning into a complete disaster.Īfter that I went and bought the Tenzing OSS15. The Magnets worked great and seemed to be a lot quieter than the Badlands but after fighting that zipper on the corners each and every time I closed it, I couldn't wait to take it back. The Sitka Bivy was cool but after about 2 weeks of use I ended up returning it. At that time I never knew what I wanted, I just wore what the "cool kids" wore and it worked. I never had a placed to attach my rangefinder and the webbing on the side never held it tight enough. I loved it and used it for about 3 years but I had two main issues with it: 1. The first harness I ever owned was the Badlands Mag Case. I'm a bowhunter which means I need all the help I can get out there and the CUB give me the support that I need out in the woods. Over the last 5 years I have had a mix between different brands, Badlands, Sitka, Tenzing and by far my most favorite is my Alaska Guide Creations CUB. And I am not loyal to the brand, just use the kit that works for me regardless.Bino harnesses is a must have in your hunting system. Works perfect for one handed operation of both. I also have the range finder pouch on the side of the bino case with a short lanyard. Tight fit height wise pendign where you have your eye cups at. The chest strap needs to be tight and you have no issues with this harness at all. I have found these are my favorite as they don't hang off the back of your neck. I have not tried the Alaska ones mentioned above, but I dont see a need to yet. I have used the Sitkas, Badlands, and a few others and I like the KUIU so far the best. Maybe users are leaving the chest strap too loose? Needs to be nice and tight. Not sure how, as there is no weight to the top when the binos are out. I like the Kuiu and have about 40 days with mine so far. I haven’t used the rangefinder attachment b/c I read in the reviews that my old Leica rangefinder (the ones about the size of a ham sandwich) are a little too big to fit. I have Swaro 10x42SLC’s and they fit perfectly in the Kuiu case. When not hunting I can unclip the straps of the harness from the bino cover part and use the cover as a case of sorts when storing binos in my truck console (use my binos daily on the ranch). I saw all this earlier today b/c they are currently running a sale on many of these items whicj I was checking out.įWIW I really like the bino harness b/c it’s simple, lightweight and I can get binos in/out with one hand without looking. There are instructions somewhere on their website (iirc on the rangefinder case product page) that shows how it clips to the bino harness. They sell a separate rangefinder case that is made to attach to either side of the bino holder (or hip belt of a pack) as well as a lanyard for a rangefinder. I believe the Velcro on bottom of the Kuiu harness is for a 6 round card-type ammo holder.
